About the Author

K. Hüsnü Can Başer, PhD, earned his doctorate in pharmacognosy at Chelsea College of the University of London, UK. He is currently a visiting professor at King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He has held various positions at Anadolu University, including dean of the faculty of pharmacy, head of the department of professional pharmaceutical sciences, head of the pharmacognosy section, member of the university board and senate, and director of the Medicinal and Aromatic Plant and Drug Research Centre (TBAM). He has communicated 940 papers in 262 symposia, and has published over 700 papers in international refereed journals, 144 papers in Turkish journals, 141 papers in conference proceedings, and 52 books or book chapters. Gerhard Buchbauer, PhD, earned his doctorate in pharmacy and philosophy at the University of Vienna, Austria. In 2002, he was elected head of the Institute of Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the University of Vienna. He retired in 2008 and is still a member of numerous scientific committees and societies as well as a member of several editorial boards, including the Journal of Essential Oil Research, the International Journal of Essential Oil Therapeutics, and Scientia Pharmaceutica. He is also assistant editor of the Flavour and Fragrance Journal. He has been instrumental in establishing the area of fragrance and flavor chemistry as a research discipline within the pharmaceutical sciences.

Locked into the 20th century, but still helpful to learn basics about EO's

I am an MD and read this carefully cover to cover before offering my opinion. This is considered a scholarly book for perfumery or food science but in my opinion, it is outdated or perhaps has been too censored for medical applications. There is zero mention of the endocannabinoid transmitter system - the largest neurotransmitter system in the mammalian body. And it is likely these are the signalling transmitters that give EO's their activity inside humans. As an example of a common herb, there is no mention that Echinacea inhibits inflammation because it is a CB2 receptor agonist and that the chemical constituent is an important sesquiterpenoid, beta-caryophyllene, that signals through the CB2 receptor. I was hoping this long academic tome might offer a link between modern neuro-science and "complementary medicine" but this is locked into 20th century industry. I think I learned more about how EO's work on humans from Pub Med and Google Scholar. An important reference books to accompany this if you choose to use it is Essential Oil Safety: A Guide for Health Care Professionals-, 2e. If one wishes to join the 21st century and learn about the endocannabinoid system, there are many sources including Handbook of Cannabis (Handbooks in Psychopharmacology).

I bought this book on October 2010 from Amazon site and I read it. The authors gave a great effort and valuable times for this book. I recommend this book to scientific reseacher who related essential oil and terpenes chemistry. I would Thank you Dr.Baser and Dr.Buchbauer for nice working.

About the Author

Deborah Phillips has been teaching English for over twenty-five years with an emphasis on test preparation and academic skills preparation. She has led seminars and participated in conferences on test preparation and English language teaching in Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, France, Spain, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates. it's Misleading saying that has answer key- when you buy a used one

I bought this product used, but it was described with answer key. Surely it has a answer key that was used before so basically you can't use it for a second time with a different e-mail.
I never bought this type of book before so I didn't know about this answer key thing. I think the description is misleading.
So if you want answers, just buy the new one, or better buy an app for TOEFL IBT it's same price as the book come with video class, you can buy tutor time and more exercises.

Excellent book for TOEFL IBT test. Cover all the skills you need for the test (reading, writing, speaking, listening).
It comes with a english lab access that is very helpful when you are studying for the test. Other important fact about this book is that comes with a answer key that explains all the answers for the exercises.

Great Closes!

This book is all about closing. It doesn't talk about other parts of the sales process so if you are new in the field you will need to read other material as well, but this is the best book I've read on how to close deals.

The Appalachian Long Distance Hikers Association, formed in 1981, is the only organized users' group for the Appalachian Trail, meeting annually for a three-day festival but also engaged in volunteer projects such as shelter work trips and hostel repairs. Mudras: Yoga in your Hands by Gertrud Hirschi is a handy reference book for using Mudras. Unlike some other books we've seen where you tended to wonder what you were really seeing, the graphics and descriptions of the hand positions are very clear. Honestly, we got it hoping it would have more magical and mystical connections for the mudras, but alas, it has little of this, although with a little intuition and research one can surely make these connections. Rather, she has associated the mudras with yoga and healing and thus the book might be of interest to the practitioners of Reiki or Qigong or other healing modalities as a supplement to their practice.

Simple, concise and my on the altar go to book

First off, the 1 star ratings of this book have nothing to do with the book. Okay done with that. This little gem of a book is the perfect companion for understanding mudras. Yet, it is so much more than mudras. It starts off with explanations, touches on the music, color, chakras, acupressure and ayurveda; includes meditations and affirmations, there are about 52 mudras with a drawing, explanation of how to do it, it's meaning, what physical ailments t it may help to heal, a mini meditation and affirmation for each one. There is a section on mudra exercise, kinda like yoga and warm exercises you can do (which feel great) right before sitting down to your practice. It finishes up with a little info on the 5 elements wood, fire, earth, metal and water.

I had never heard of this author prior to purchasing the book. I'm so glad I read the reviews and followed my gut. I have learned so much.

My book has fallen apart, the glue dried up or wore out. Not sure what that is about. I think I may have to purchase another. :)

No well organized for Kindle

There is wonderful information. The organization at least for the Kindle is horrible. A Mudra use is described. The picture of how to do the Mudra is pages after. There is a number of positions on the same page so if one interests you, since its not a familiar name, by time I would find the pictures I couldn't remember which mudra I was looking for. It really is not user friendly. The cards are more user friendly but lack the in-depth information that the book has. If you are unfamiliar with the mudras buy the book and the cards.
