The 12th Planet brings to life the Sumerian civilization, presenting millennia-old evidence of the existence of Nibiru, the home planet of the Anunnaki, and of the landings of the Anunnaki on Earth every 3,600 years, and reveals a complete history of the solar system as told by these early visitors from another planet.
Zecharia Sitchin's Earth Chronicles series, with millions of copies sold worldwide, deal with the history and prehistory of Earth and humankind. Amazon.com Review
Zecharia Sitchen's The 12th Planet is the starting point on a quest that spans six books and 20 years worth of ancient aliens, genetic manipulation, and scrutiny of linguistic minutiae. If we trust Sitchen's translation abilities, we must be prepared for the imminent return of an alien race who created us some 300,0x00 years ago. The 12th Planet is perhaps the best written of Sitchin's Earth Chronicles series; full of example after example of ancient Sumerian passages, astronomical observations, archaeological finds, and technological coincidences supporting his theories. The price we pay for all this evidence is a bit of a dry read at times, but the ideas Sitchin proposes are more than scintillating enough to make up for the overtly scholastic tone of his text. --Brian Patterson
Review
"One of the most important books on Earth's roots ever written." (East West Journal)
"Sitchin is a zealous investigator into man's origins . . . a dazzling performance." (Kirkus Reviews)
"Sitchin's works are outstandingly different from all others that present this central theme. His linguistic skills in the languages of antiquity and his pursuit of the earliest available texts and artifacts make possible the wealth of photographs and line drawings appearing in his books from tablets, monuments, murals, pottery, and seals." (Rosemary Decker, historian and researcher)
"Read this book to see from a perspective not often offered. Read it to expand your picture of our tiny existence. And beyond that, just enjoy the theorizing and information provided. There are few places that you can find such a compilation." (News Worth World in Perspective, Oct 2007)
" . . . an array of evidence to support the assertion that the earth had been visited by ancient alien astronauts in its past. Sitchin based his conclusions on the written records of Sumer, the "sudden civilization" that sprang up virtually overnight in the Tigris-Euphrates Valley of modern Iraq." (American Buddhist Journal, Feb 2009)
" . . . [supplies] an array of evidence to support the assertion that the earth had been visited by ancient alien astronauts in its past. Sitchin based his conclusions on the written records of Sumer, the 'sudden civilization' that sprang up virtually overnight in the Tigris-Euphrates Valley of modern Iraq. . . . he found an astonishing array of facts that could be corroborated by modern research. What he found was literally mind boggling in 1976, and it remains so today." (Wisdom Quarterly: American Buddhist Journal, Feb 2009)
“Exciting . . . credible . . . most provocative and compelling. The 12th Planet presents documentation for a radical new theory which, by answering some age-old questions, merely widens the ripples in the pool. (As the author notes, “If the Nefilim . . . created Man on Earth, who created the Nefilim?”) (Library Journal)
“For thousands of years priests, poets, and scientists have tried to explain how man was created. . . . Now a recognized scholar has come forth with a theory that is the most astonishing of all.” (United Press International)
From the Inside Flap
Dear Reader,
The Earth Chronicles series is based on the premise that mythology is the depository of ancient recollections, that the Bible should be read literally as a historic-scientific document, and that ancient civilizations were the product of knowledge brought to Earth by the Anunnaki-- “Those who from Heaven to Earth came.”
Complementing each other and serving to bring the saga of gods and humans on Earth ever closer to our time, each book of the series looks at this awesome tale from a different perspective.
The 12th Planet, the first book of the series, brings to life the Sumerian civilization and presents millennia-old evidence of the existence of Nibiru, the home planet of the Anunnaki, and the landings of the Anunnaki on Earth every 3,600 years.
The Stairway to Heaven, the second book, incorporates ancient Egyptian evidence to show that the gateway between the mortal and the divine was a spaceport in the Sinai Peninsula, with the Giza pyramids and the Sphinx serving as beacons for the landings.
The Wars of Gods and Men, the third book, additionally embraces Canaanite, Hittite, and Hindu sources to include in these investigations the incidents of the Tower of Babel and the upheaval of Sodom and Gomorrah, concluding that nuclear weapons were used on Earth 4,000 years ago.
The Lost Realms, the fourth book, transports readers to the pre-Columbian civilizations and ancient empires of the Americas, revealing hitherto unrecognized golden links between ancient Near Eastern civilizations and the “cities of the gods” of the Olmecs, Mayas, Aztecs, and Incas.
When Time Began, the fifth book, explores ancient knowledge of Heaven and Earth and the interwoven cycles that gave rise to astronomy, the zodiac and astrology, and stone calendars such as Stonehenge, revealing the secret of New Ages past and future.
And The Cosmic Code, the sixth book in the series, explains how the secrets of humankind’s celestial teachers were encoded in the Bible and other sacred and hidden “books”--a cosmic code that links Earthlings to their cosmic roots. In the years since each book was published, new scientific discoveries have provided mounting corroboration of the series’ incredible and unorthodox science-based conclusions. This accumulation of discoveries and the origins of humankind and the solar system are further discussed in the companion books Genesis Revisited and Divine Encounters. I trust that modern science will continue to confirm ancient knowledge.
Zecharia Sitchin was born in Russia and grew up in Palestine, where he acquired a profound knowledge of modern and ancient Hebrew, other Semitic and European languages, the Old Testament, and the history and archaeology of the Near East. A graduate of the University of London with a degree in economic history, he worked as a journalist and editor for many years prior to undertaking his life’s work--The Earth Chronicles.
One of the few scholars able to read the clay tablets and interpret ancient Sumerian and Akkadian, Sitchin based The Earth Chronicles series on the texts and pictorial evidence recorded by the ancient civilizations of the Near East. His books have been widely translated, reprinted in paperback editions, converted to Braille for the blind, and featured on radio and television programs.

I BELIEVE

... yes I do! Zecharia Sitchin brings into focus so much of the Bible shrouded in mystery ... its Cliff's Note summary gaps allowing too much interpretation for misguidance, ultimately resulting in religious wars. Sitchin fills in some of the blanks and it makes absolute sense.
I traveled to Peru after reading the first three books in The 12th Planet series. Awing the wonders with an entirely new understanding than the tired, worn out assumptions of anthropology and boxed religious rantings.
The 12th Planet is not an easy read unless you are well versed in myth(?)ology. I finally gave up and bought his Index making it much easier. Not a book of fiction, rather based upon reliable research, excellent quotes from substantiating references, The 12th Planet will awaken knowledge you know, but have lost through generations of DNA reconditioning. Political/religious control/manipulation.
The 12th Planet is Sitchin's life work. Spirited into the subject as a child by a teachers inability to answer his questions ... her attempt to corral his mind into isolated, acceptable thought ... Sitchin stretched his mind ... learned to read the Sumerian language, allowing his research into ancient records that few have dared to travel, because the information potentially destroys current religious culture/beliefs. If only minds would open to the possibilities Stitchin offers in his literature. Perhaps sooner than later, since science is discovering new huge planets that could support life; how the moon was formed, all pointing to the man who for years purported a truth everyone snubbed. I wish only he had lived long enough to see his research validated by the very sciences that ignored, even castigated his work.
It took me three months to read The 12th Planet. 1) Each character with various names depending upon the culture being discussed, and succeeding paragraph easily change cultures, 2) So much knowledge is packed into every page, some page ideas stumped me. I had to put the book down for several days or weeks to digest the new way of seeing, which in some respects will totally distort currently held belief systems ... especially fundamental Baptist upbringings, even though already I was way past that box, or so I thought.
Sitchin brought me so much farther. He opened my eyes, expanded my mind, offered me new possibilities for my very existence. And, I believe.
NOT RECOMMENDED for orthodox Christians unwilling to consider possibilities outside the theology of the church. To read Sitchin's works, one must be treading a Spiritual Path, willing to accept new ideas, able to open their vision that just maybe we are the fabric of another race ... without erasing the fact there is a Creator ... One, who created all things and another, that just possibly formed us out of the clay ... just not exactly the way we have been led to believe.
I Believe. Do you?

Fun Reading but Not Always Trustworthy
By Alan Dale Daniel
This is a difficult book to rate. Some of the book is excellent as it is filled with good information about ancient history and raises excellent questions concerning our ancient past. It is really remarkable in its ability to cause one to think about what was really going on in ancient history. Other parts of the book are just wrong.
Some parts of the book are not trustworthy, and here are some examples: "Scientists have also come to the unexpected conclusion that not only could life have evolved upon the outer planets (Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune) but it probably did evolve there. (Kindle location 4304). There is no citation for this idea and, being an avid science reader and I have read Science News for decades, no such opinion is held by "scientist". "The experiments conducted on the Moon by the American astronauts and the study and analysis of the soil and rock samples they brought back have established beyond doubt that the Moon, though presently barren, was once a "living planet." ( Kindle location 3387) Once again, no citation, and the rocks collected on the moon show the opposite.
In one translation of an ancient middle east document Mr. Sitchin contends it reads: "He demanded that Enki 'stop feeding his people,' that he no longer 'supply corn rations on which the people thrive.'" (Kindle location 6907). Of course, corn was not known in the middle east in ancient times and was developed in America. This is the same person that will ask us to trust his translation expertise throughout the book and his claims that the ancient Sumerian texts say what he claims they say. These misstatements throw a lot of doubt on many other so called factual statements in the text.
One could go on and on with the problems, especially the problems with the constant comings and goings of people from a 12th planet by spaceships landing at spaceports who have left nothing behind in the way of unusual metals, drinking or eating vessels or utensils, or unusual clothing showing exotic weaves et al. It seems the great flood destroyed everything. It also seems to have destroyed useful engineering information like the pulley or metal cables. The pictures that have survived have all been drawn by humans and show, only vaguely, spaceships and entities in spacesuits. The drawings and paintings do not show pulleys in use, metal pliers, metal screws or screwdrivers, rivets, or forges with bellows and other mechanisms for raising the temperature of the fire. In reality, the drawings and paintings show nothing really modern. The spacemen, it seems, really did leave absolutely nothing behind - not even a drawings on metal such as we launched into space on Voyager.
Nonetheless, the book does open a thought provoking door on the past with its discussions about the whys of certain things. Why is the number 12 so important in the ancient world? It seems ten or five would be far more important. So, the book is still a lot of fun even if it does get a bit off track at times.

Exciting first-source historical records. Decide the truth for yourself.
By bossa nova
Now that there is so much FACTUAL material available on the subject, anyone who doesn't explore the EVIDENCE behind the Ancient Aliens hypothesis with an open mind should no longer be considered a well-educated person. You may not agree with all of the CONCLUSIONS that writers such as Sitchen reach. However, the archeological and contemporary first-source historical records seem to indicate that mainstream academics are wrong about many things. In this book you will explore first-source material directly - you will not have to rely on anyone's interpretation.
